CONTEST RULES

SURFING

MEN'S, WOMEN'S, LEGEND'S, FOREIGN, ALAIA, TEAM SUP & 250# & OVER DIVISIONS:

  • Minimum 10-foot board required.  You will receive additional points for every foot over 10 
    • Surfboards must be brought to Beach Marshal for size verification.
    • (example: 11-foot (10 points), 12-foot (additional 10 points)
  • One 1-foot from the nose of the board will be marked by tape
  • All contestants must sign Waiver of Liability.  Check in with Beach Marshall to obtain wrist band indicating compliance.  Competitors found not wearing a wrist band during their heat will be disqualified.Leashes (TBD) by Beach Marshall
  • Check-in 15-minutes before the heat.
  • Check-in with Beach Marshall and paddle out to the furthest buoy in the channel.  No paddling into the line up until your heat starts.
  • Triangles enforced, point deduction will be issued.
  • Buffalo tricks: must be held for 3 seconds to count for point.  See tricks under "Maneuvers"
  • Buoy to Buoy scoring.
  • Return the jersey immediately to receive a competitor shirt.
    • Only 1 shirt per competitor regardless of how many divisions competitor has entered.
  • Contestants who won the previous year, can place however they will not qualify to win a board.
  • 250# & over contestants need to weigh in to get jersey.
  • COMPLAINTS NOT ACCEPTED.

TANDEM SURFING

  • Partner must be half the body weight of primary partner.
    • Otherwise you are not qualified to win prizes.
    • Same sex allowed, but the above rules apply to win prizes.
  • Leashes (TBD) by Beach Marshall
  • All contestants must sign Waiver of Liability.  Check in with Beach Marshall to obtain wrist band indicating compliance.  Competitors found not wearing a wrist band during their heat will be disqualified.Check-in 15-minutes before the heat.
  • Check-in with Beach Marshall and paddle out to the furthest buoy in the channel.  No paddling into the line up until your heat starts.
  • No alternates or switching of partners.
  • Triangles enforced, point deduction will be issued.
  • Contestants who won the previous year, can place however they will not qualify to win a board.
  • Buoy to Buoy scoring.
  • Return the jersey immediately to receive a competitor shirt.
    • Only 1 shirt per competitor regardless of how many divisions competitor has entered.
  • COMPLAINTS NOT ACCEPTED.

CANOE AND SUPSQUATCH

  • Check-in 20-minutes before the heat.
  • 17-minute heats with 3 minutes for change over.
  • All contestants must sign Waiver of Liability.  Check in with Beach Marshall to obtain wrist band indicating compliance.  Competitors found not wearing a wrist band during their heat will be disqualified.
  • Check-in with Beach Marshall and paddle out to the furthest buoy in the channel.  No paddling into the line up until your heat starts.
  • One team per wave.
  • Team captains are responsible for team conduct and substitutions.
  • Triangles enforced, point deduction will be issued.
  • SUPSQUATCH ONLY:  Jet ski assist if conditions warrant. 
  • SUPSQUATCH ONLY: Buffalo tricks must be held for 3 seconds to count for point.  See tricks under "Maneuvers"
  • Buoy to Buoy scoring.
  • All team members must be in canoe or on supsquatch for waves to be scored.
  • An alternate may be used if they are not on other or previous teams and MUST be approved by Beach Marshal
  • Return the jersey immediately to receive a competitor shirt.
    • Only 1 shirt per competitor regardless of how many divisions competitor has entered.
  • COMPLAINTS NOT ACCEPTED.

250# BULLY BOARD & BODY SURFING

  • Check-in 15-minutes before the heat.
  • All contestants must sign Waiver of Liability.  Check in with Beach Marshall to obtain wrist band indicating compliance.  Competitors found not wearing a wrist band during their heat will be disqualified.
  • Check-in with Beach Marshall and paddle out to the furthest buoy in the channel.  No paddling into the line up until your heat starts.
  • Triangles enforced, point deduction will be issued.
  • Contestants who won the previous year, can place however they will not qualify to win a board.
  • Buoy to Buoy scoring.
  • Return the jersey/cap immediately to receive a competitor shirt.
    • Only 1 shirt per competitor regardless of how many divisions competitor has entered.
  • 250# & over contestants need to weigh in to get jersey.
  • COMPLAINTS NOT ACCEPTED.
