Team Name and Photo: Teams must submit their team name along with a photo of their team. Teams must submit pictures and names of their alternates. Sharing of alternates will not be allowed.
Wa’a Photo: Teams must submit a picture of their wa’a (outrigger canoe), with the wa’a name visible in the photo.
Equipment: Each team must provide their own wa’a and paddles. Sharing of wa’a will not be allowed.
Wa’a Repairs: If a team's wa’a breaks, they are out. Only repairs or replacement of the ama (outrigger float) or yako (outrigger boom) will be allowed.
Check-in: Teams must check in 20 minutes before their heat.
Heats: Heats are 20 minutes long, and changeovers are not allowed.
Heat Format: Heats consist of 4 teams, with 2 rounds of elimination scoring. The top 8 teams advance to the semi-finals, and the top 4 teams advance to the finals.
Paddling Out: Teams must check in with the Beach Marshall and paddle out to the furthest buoy in the channel. No paddling into the lineup until their heat starts.
One Team per Wave: Only one team is allowed per wave.
Scoring: Buoy-to-buoy scoring is used.
Triangles: Triangles (navigation markers) are enforced, and point deductions will be issued for violations.
Team Captains: Team captains are responsible for team conduct and alternates/substitutions.
Team Members in Canoe: All team members must be in the canoe for waves to be scored.
Alternates: An alternate may be used if they are not on other or previous teams. The Beach Marshall must be notified by the Team Captain before any alternate may be used.
Jersey Return: Return the jersey immediately to receive a competitor shirt. Only one shirt per competitor.
